COERR Mae Hong Son organized the Elderly Day during April 25-26, in Ban Mai Nai Soi Temporary Shelter, Muang District, Mae Hong Son Province. There were 130 participants of 78 females and 52 males.
COERR Mae Sod organized the events on April 8th, in Ban Mae La Temporary Shelter, Tak Province’s Tha Song Yang District, in which 110 persons of 86 females and 24 males participated and in Ban Nupho Temporary Shelter, Tak’s Province’s Umphang District, in which 100 persons of 57 females and 43 males participated; and on April 11th, in Ban Umpiem Temporary Shelter, Tak Province’s Phob Phra District in which 103 persons of 56 females and 47 males participated.
COERR Kanchanaburi organized the Elderly Day events on April 22nd, in Ban Don Yang Temporary Shelter in Kanchanaburi Province’s Sangkhlaburi District, in which 140 persons of 80 females and 60 males participated, and in Ban Tham Hin Temporary Shelter in Ratchaburi Province’s Suan Phueng District, in which 160 persons of 90 females and 70 males participated.
The events organized in most Temporary Shelters focused on the blessing ceremony in which younger people pouring water in the hands of the elderly and the elderly blessed the younger; Speeches of thanks and appreciation for elders ‘ good example of life experience that youth should follow; happy time in which children and youth, and elderly performed their talent such as singing, dancing and traditional performances or elders’ telling of their stories; offering gifts, such as consumable food and supplies, for the elderly; religious ceremony of praying and closing ceremony.
There are usually the team visiting the elderly who were too weak to attend the ceremony, in order to offer moral support as well as gifts to the elders, such as consumable food and supplies.
